I am working as a Technical Marketing Engineer at Cisco Systems, Inc. in the Enterprise Switching Technology Group (ESTG).
My job is to support customers, work with engineers, and help driving the strategy around sustainable IT infrastructure, also known as Green IT. More specifically, I'm dedicated to Cisco EnergyWise, an infrastructure to monitor and control heterogenous energy consumers connected to an IP network.
Cisco EnergyWise is an architecture added to existing Cisco switching and routing platforms, promoting companywide sustainability by monitoring, reporting, and reducing energy consumption across an entire corporate infrastructure. It enables companies to measure the power consumption of network infrastructure and network-attached devices and manage power consumption with specific policies, reducing power consumption to realize increased cost savings, potentially affecting any powered device.
EnergyWise can measure and control any PoE device connected to the network, can measure switch power consumption, can integrate with PCs and put them to sleep is the policy says so, and so on. You stay in control.
EnergyWise Orchestrator is an Windows-based application to visualize and manage an EnergyWise network. It can tell you much power is consumed at any point, saves historical values, tells you how much energy was saved thanks to the policies, etc...
